When You're In London, You Should...

Things to do in London

London is my favourite city. Not only because of the famous sights and excellent shopping locations but also for its vibrant energy and life is constantly buzzing around you. It makes me feel alive in every single moment when I'm there.

The tube allows easy and effortless travel around and there's always something going on in London. Whether it is free ice cream in Spitalfields Market, a pop-up labyrinth in Trafalgar Square (2010) or Magnum store (2012) or a film premiere. This city never sleeps and will always surprise you!

Visit Fopp And Spend Endless Time Looking For DVD Deals

Fopp Covent Garden
Fopp Covent Garden London

Fopp is located north of the Seven Dials on Earlham Street/ Shaftsbury Avenue. It is an alternative music and DVD store and I never leave without a bargain. The DVD's start from £2.99 and amongst blockbuster movies, you'll find international cinema, Japanese animes or indie films. Going there and spending hours looking for unique films and bargains is something I love doing. You can find some treasures in there and the atmosphere is always chillaxed. The staff is friendly and the collection neat and tidy. If you love films as much as I do and are on the hunt for some great bargains then this is your address.

Eat Pizza At Franco Manca's | Westfield Stratford

Franco Manca's Westfield

The best pizza place in London is Franco Manca's, a chain that is now in various locations all over town, but my favourite branch is the Westfield/Stratford one. You'll find it at the top level in the food court. Franco Manca's make sourdough pizza at affordable prices. The food is made with fresh ingredients and prepared in front of your eyes. You can watch every step from the start via it goes into the stone oven to finish. My favourite pizza is number 6 for £6.85, which comes with wild mushrooms, Gloucester old spot ham, mozzarella and buffalo ricotta. The savoury taste from the ham, combined with the strong, creamy cheese on a soft dough is simply delicious.

Have A Stroll Along Bankside

Bankside and Tower Bridge
Beaches in London
View St Pauls London

When I'm in London, I'll make sure there's some time for a walk along the Thames on the south bank side. You can start the tour in the west part of Central and walk over to the east side of London. Start at The Houses of Parliament (Tube: Westminster), then cross Westminster Bridge, past the London Dungeons and the Eye and continue your walk. The path along the Thames has so many to offer.

At low tide, there's a little beach section just after the National Theatre. There will always be an artist to craft something at this beach. Last week, someone formed a Homer Simpson into the sand. When you continue, you'll also pass the former Tudor red light district (where the crime museum, Costa and Pret are), see a replica of Francis Drake's ship, feel the vibes around the Globe theatre and discover some wonderful eating places.

After Southwark Cathedral and London Bridge, you can go shopping at Hay's Gallery, an open planned mall, discover the HMS Belfast or simply enjoy the view of Tower Bridge. I've eaten several times at the Strada that is next to the Town Hall and there, you have an amazing environment to watch life walking by in the stunning scenery of Tower Bridge.

Finish your walk crossing Tower Bridge and take the tube at Tower Hill. The walk takes around 2h (depends on how fast you walk and how much you'd like to see). A shorter version would start at St. Pauls, across Millennium Bridge and walk towards London Bridge.

Enjoy A Freebee At Spitalfields Market

Mars Free Ice Cream Spitalfields London

London is a never resting place and there will always be a special promotion around. Last year, Ben & Jerry's stopped by for their free ice cream cone tour and I've got a plastic shovel spoon that reminds me of that day. Just by accident, I found the Mars ice cream van standing in Spitalfields Market, offering free ice cream to visitors last time when I visited the area with my friends Annie and Katie. We were cheeky and even got a picture taken in the van :).

I know some of these activities are very ordinary and a Londoner can have the experience every day. There is so much to see and to discover when you explore Central, so to me, these activities are connected to having a wonderful time and they create unique memories of every trip down to London.

What is your favourite thing to do in London?

Shopping In Cardiff. The Sales Season Is On!!!

Cardiff Summer Sale Fashion

Have you seen this sign on the High Street yet? It means good news. The sale season is on, so finally we can buy that dress we had our eyes set on for ages or bag a new watch and find other amazing deals. I went bargain hunting in Cardiff the other day and spent most of my time wandering around the shops, bagging bargains such as a dress and pair of earrings. A trip to the cinema at the end of a long shopping day was well deserved.

First Stop: Urban Outfitters

UO has some beautiful clothes at the moment and I was literally waiting every day for the sale to come on. When I went in around lunchtime, the store was dead. Perfect conditions to look at all the reduced skirts, dresses and lacy shirts. I ended up with some outfits, including some dresses (I was looking at white lacey ones in particular), a shirt and skirt combination and I bought a watch.

I saw this dress and thought it might look better on me than on the hanger. What do you think? I can't remember the price reduction and it is not listed online.

Pins & Needles reduced from £69 to £35

I saw a white dress in London last week and was in love with the delicate lace and fine material. However, when I put it on, I wasn't sure about it, as it looked a bit like a nightgown on me. I think it makes a great basic and can be styled with some basic accessories.

Pins & Needles, reduced from £58 to £35

Love this white lacey dress and bought it. During my car burglary in 2012, I lost my Jane Norman white lace dress. Ever since I've been keeping my eyes open for a replacement and I think this one will do a good job :) Might wear it for Wireless Festival in Birmingham next month.

Now comes a skirt and shirt combination. Both items were reduced to £15 and I was unsure about the skirt. I thought if I'd really want it, I could go back to OU later in the day, which I didn't. I'm so gutted about the skirt as you can't get it online. Do you think the skirt suits me or had it been a good decision to not get it?

Sale Urban Outfitters shirt and skirt

All items are currently in the sale. You can't buy the skirt online, which I feel gutted about. Bit of a missed opportunity, but nevermind. I made a great bargain with a leather watch that has a face of an old world map. It was reduced from £24 to £10.

Second Stop: Primark

Cardiff finally has a new Primark. The old one was truly dreadful! Messy hangers and aisles, no space and far too many people squeezed themselves into the shop. Now you have lots of space, neat and tidy aisles and a massive bag and shoe section on the second floor. It reminded me very much of the Primark standard in Oxford Street (Tottenham Court Road).

Not in the sale, but have a look what I've found:

Bright orange high heels from Primark

I think a bright orange is the absolute trend colour this summer. These caught my eye immediately and I had to try them on. I never bought Primark shoes and was surprised how comfy they were. They came £9.

How cute are these polka dot high heels from Primark?

Spotted a similar pair in the current Grazia issue, so black and white stripy shoes might become a trend.

Third Stop: Zara

By the time I reached Zara, the store looked like a battlefield. Messy tables and clothes everywhere. My shopping euphoria dropped a bit as there was a constant heavy perfume smell in the air. I wasn't sure if I should stay and look for something of interest or if I should leave and continue my tour. Luckily I stayed and found a delicate pair of chandelier earrings, reduced from £16.99 to £9.99.

Some search later, I also discovered this skater dress. I love the colour but, unsure again if it will suit me or if it will make me look unnecessarily young. Reduced from £45.99 to £35.99.

Fourth Stop: New Look

A white tunic is a festival must-have, so I've tried this one for £19.99. It looked great from the front but had a lower cut on the back, which was a bit weird. I've also seen more coin necklaces. If you haven't got one yet, you should read my post about summer's hottest must-have in my coin necklace post. The tunic and the necklace were not in the sale.

Dorothy Perkins Handbag
Blue Pastel bag, Dorothy Perkins. Reduced from £18 to £10.

And Finally....Time To See A Film

Cardiff Cineworld Cinema

After 5h of shopping, I relaxed seeing the brilliant film 'The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet'. What a wonderful movie.

Hope you've enjoyed today's blog post. When are you hitting the High Street for the sales or do you shop entirely online? Let me know!

Oh and just in case, my bag is a Mischa Barton cross-body satchel (via ASOS £30, sales summer season 2013).

Why You Should Invest In A Leopard Necklace

Leopard Necklace

On my last trip to London, I've spotted this leopard necklace in Primark Oxford Street East (Tottenham Court Road) and wanted to get it. By the time I finally decided to go for it, I didn't have much time to go back to the store. Anyway, unlike the recent online rip-off on a new jewellery website, I had lost trust in these kinds of online shops. However, I found Juste Bijoux's Savannah necklace for £7.95 and wanted to give the shop a try, as I feel the necklace is a great alternative, which looks stunning and even better than the Primark one.

I placed my ordered and it came with free delivery within a few days. The delivery was super fast and the customer service team were extremely helpful. When the necklace arrived, it was wrapped nicely in a cardboard gift box and in safe bubble wrap. They've also made the effort to include the รถ-Umlaut in my surname, which I really appreciated. A business card and receipt came with the package, too.

The necklace had a faulty clasp, but the team sent a replacement asap. The necklace has a pleasant weight and looks very trendy. It is fashion jewellery though, so I'm well aware it might lose its colour from constant wearing over time.

I brought it with me on my Easter break, wore it every day and received a lot of compliments. I've forwarded my feedback to the brand and they even featured me on their Twitter page! Will get free delivery on my next order which is an additional big plus.

A leopard necklace goes with anything, if it is a white blouse for work, as a casual accessory for a dress or to catch some compliments when you're out.
