Lifestyle: Liebster Award

Liebster Award

Last Wednesday I woke up to a Liebster Award nomination from Beauty Blogger Lauren. This is my second award this month and I'm so overwhelmed by this. Thank you so much!

I've met Lauren through Twitter and she is such a sweet girl. Her blog is super cute filled with the latest beauty must-haves and lifestyle inspired posts. Thank you so much Lauren for my nomination.

|The Rules|

1. Get nominated
2. Link back the girl/guy who nominated you
3. Do the questions
4. Nominate 5-20 people to do the questions.

|Q & A|

1. What are your top 3 bloggers and why?

Hm, that's a tricky question. I admire anyone who blogs, simply because it is such a time consuming but fun thing to do. It requires so many skills, like organising, planning, good writing and an eye for spotting stories. So anyone who blogs with commitment and passion is worth admiring.

2. What drives you?

Boredom and results. Boredom simply because it is such a great source for inspiration and results because there's no greater satisfaction to me, than to work hard and be rewarded for it afterwards. I need to see results when I'm working and I'm proud and pleased with myself when, after a long day I have physical results which will get a reward. In school it was the A+ on my paper, at uni it was the respect and tolerance from my class mates and profs after a presentation and in my job it is the satisfying feeling when I see my work published in the magazine/paper/blog or wherever.

3. What little thing makes you happy?

It makes me happy when others think of me and I love little, unexpected gifts and acts of kindness, for example handwritten letters and postcards. They make me very happy, because they are a sign that somebody thought about me and intended to put a smile on my face. This is such a small gesture which doesn't cost the world but it has a great effect.

4. What is your dream job/ personal goal?

I have two dream jobs. 1. I'd like to work for the European Union or for a broadcasting station so I can do the abroad correspondence for Germany in Britain. It might sound naive, but I hope, one day when my parents in Germany watch the news, they'll see me reporting in front of the Houses of Parliament. I love contributing to a peaceful Europe and the cultural dialog between our nations. So first I have to become a journalist and then work my way up.

2. My other dream career would be to go back to uni to become a professor. I'm very good at academia and I love writing about theories, explaining complex definitions, conducting research and analysis and then pass on 'the gift of knowledge' (Sheldon Cooper quote) to others. If I can get a job in the industry that requires and makes great use of my research skills, I'd be totally happy.

My personal goal differs from work, because I separate very strongly my work persona from my personal life. Personally, I wish to live independently with a caring partner and hopefully a pug. I don't need a lot of money, but I want to be able to look after myself and the person I love without worrying about financial issues. I'm terribly romantic and loyal so another big part of my personal goal is to be with someone who loves me the way I am. The thought about someone wanting to spent the rest of his life with me is an ideal I dream about and hope, it'll happen one day.

5. Do you have a favourite food?

Pizza. My first one was a Ham & Pineapple from a food truck when I was 7 years old. My parents took me and a family friend sightseeing in the Dresden area. It rained all day and after hours in the cold and damp car, my Dad stopped somewhere and there was this food truck, selling hot, fresh pizza. The smell, the warmth, the taste....it just makes me very nostalgic and it is one of my most intense food memories from my childhood.

6. What is your favourite beauty brand? (makeup or facial care, or hair etc)

It has to be BeBe (aka Johnson & Johnson) for shower gel, make up removal and moisturiser, Vichy Wash Foam and Wella hair products. I stick to one brand once my trial and error testing period has finished and I found THE product.

7. Favourite clothes shop?

Depends. 90% of my clothes are from the UK. I barely shop in Germany, because we haven't got any decent fashion shops (H&M and Zara, but that's it). I've discovered Jones Bootmaker for comfy quality shoes and I find Uniqlo and Stradivarius super stylish. Now and again I get gems from Primark and though a bit pricey, Joy has beautiful blouses and dresses. Vila has chic fashion, too.

8. What would be your spirit animal and why?

Bit of a weird question. I guess it has to be a cat. I'm not very fond of them, but like cats, I love sitting by the heat, need constant attention, have my own will and independence and I can get my claws out. If I can choose, my spirit animal would be a fox. Foxes are wonderful and mysterious creatures, not easy to tame but always on the hunt, adaptable and extremely clever.

9. Why did you start blogging?

I was stuck in a dreary and underwhelming job which had nothing to do with any of my career plans and which killed my creativity and urge of energy every single day that I worked there. I was looking for a way out, otherwise I would have gone mental! I needed a project completely of my own, something that was entirely run, organised and managed by myself without the supervision of every single step to keep my creativity and intelligence going. In sharing my fashion thoughts and stories, this blog has saved me and helped me to come back on track and to focus on my writing career and develop some additional skills.

10. Have you changed much over the last year?

Yes, I have. In the last two years, I moved countries and sometimes I suffer a bit from culture clash. Some things are different in Britain and it takes me a lot of time to understand why certain things are so different when Germany is only an hour away. Sometimes I can't believe that even cultures in Europe differ so much from each other so I have become more patient (I think !?!).

11. If you could star in a TV series based on your life, what would it be? (sitcom, drama etc...)

My life as a TV format would be a family drama, similar to American Beauty. Life is tragic in so many ways and no one ever takes the time to look closer.
